Location. The Sofitel Gold Coast near Broadbeach in Queensland, Australia, is located 50 meters from the beach and directly opposite the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. The present day Sofitel Gold Coast hotel was long known as the Grand Mercure Hotel and Oasis Shopping Centre. In 2005, the hotel underwent a $20 million upgrade to all guestrooms and public areas and became the Sofitel Gold Coast. Guests can perceive these substantial improvements as they enter the hotel lobby, which features soaring white walls accented by spherical art objects hanging from the ceiling. The new conference center incorporates touch screen controls, high speed voice and data outlets and built in projectors and plasma screen displays. The facilities can accommodate between 10 and 450 delegates.
